The mosquito-drone scale model. In the comic the drones are the size of real mosquitoes, but the model measures 50 cm long to allow for macro close-ups. The neck, tail, legs and wings can all be posed. One of the eyes is a plumbing connection, the other one is a repurposed Bolex lens.
A sci-fi graphic novel set in a near future, in a sprawling dystopian city. The story is about an illegal reality TV show that films real murders on the street using tiny mosquito drones. The poor neighborhood where the main detective character lives is based on the back alleys of Montreal with their weird architectural add-ons and DYI/repaired aesthetic.
The mosquito drones are featured heavily in the story, so to save time (and for fun) I built a pose-able scale model from plastic, metal and Sculpey to photograph and compose into the drawings.
